Mr. Weaver's conclusions that David Martin's father was Andreas Martin seem to be based on faulty information. Modern research indicates that his father was really a Christian Martin
Jason S. Martin has written an article which appeared in the July, 1987 edition of Pennsylvania Mennonite Heritage published by the Lancaster Mennonite Historical society, 2215 Millstream Road, Lancaster, PA 17602.
In this article he makes a strong case that indeed M. G. Weaver was wrong. He says that David's father was a Christian Martin 1669 - cir 1749 who came to this country with his wife Ells b. 1672 and two daughters, Fravin and Fronik, both aged 16, on the ship Pink Plaisance in 1732.
