A Prayer for Thanksgiving

Lord, We Give Thanks
|
Gracious God, You have given us so much. We are indeed a blessed people. We have warm homes, plenty of food, and loving families with which to celebrate this holiday.
There are many in this world who do not have these things. May our thankfulness spill over into generosity to those less fortunate than ourselves. On these Thanksgiving occasions our minds often turn to the past. We remember Thanksgivings spent with our own parents and grandparents. We remember Thanksgivings spent with our children and grandchildren. We remember Thanksgivings spent with our brothers and sisters in the church.
We are so thankful for the church and all that it means. It is a fellowship that grows richer and richer as the years roll by. Through the music and liturgy we are lifted to new heights of worship. In its service we have the opportunity to serve you and all mankind. Above all we are thankful that you sent your only Son to visit us here on earth. Through his teaching, and because of his death and resurrection your church will last through all eternity. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.
