A Prayer for the Second Week of Advent

A Dove
He Comes to Us
Father God, as we move through another advent season, we are again reminded of your coming to earth so long ago. You left your home in Glory and came to us in the form of a helpless babe. By the miracle of that incarnation, we are empowered to become your sons and daughters.

Your Holy Spirit comes to us again and again. It is our prayer that in the fulfillment of time, your Kingdom will come in all its glory, and we will see your face without this present veil of darkness.

On a dark night, your coming brought Joy to the shepherds, and to Mary and Joseph that first Christmas. We have all experienced dark nights of the soul, but Joy always comes in the morning as you come to us and provide healing. We look forward with expectancy to that glorious morning when Joy shall break forth in a final burst of love as you come to abide with your children forever.

Guide us through this advent season. May each of us help others to experience it in a new way. Help us focus on the task ahead. May Joy come in the morning. In the name of the Child of Bethlehem, we pray. Amen.
