It's Summer! Let the Good Times Roll!

Family Picnic
Bring on the Food!

The summer solstice has come and gone. We are now officially enjoying the summer season. School is out and the playgrounds are full of screaming kids. It is time for picnics, ice cream, and lemonade.

This is the time of year when Mary and I love to sit outdoors in the cool of the evening and watch the stars come out. It is also time for catching summer shows and concerts. Tonight we will go to the American Music Theater here in Lancaster, PA. They are featuring The Lettermen. Who can forget such songs as, "Shangri La," "Go Away, Little Girl," and "Willow Weep for Me?" It looks to be a fun night.

Today we cleaned up our few little flower beds. I am thankful that we don't have much to do in that regard anymore. I was exhausted after that little chore. Several years ago, we found a holly tree growing in the flower bed. It had gotten about 6 feet tall, but never produced berries. Today I cut it down.

Tomorrow afternoon we will have a picnic with some of my brothers and their families. It will be good to see every one again. Hot dogs, potato salad, garden salads, baked beans, and all the other goodies will be loaded on a table groaning with wonderful things to eat.

So, let the good times roll and have a great summer.
