The Bionic Woman

Mary and Jay at Venice Beach

This coming week is a big one for Mary and me, especially for Mary. On Monday morning, January 30, 2006 at 10:00 AM, she will have a total hip replacement on her right side. In August of 2004, she had the left one replaced. Her hip is now bone on bone, and she is really suffering, especially since she had to go off her main pain medication for the surgery.

She is holding up pretty well, although I can tell that the pain and anxiety are starting to take their toll. If you can find it in your heart, say a little prayer for her this week. I know she would appreciate it.

She has an excellent surgeon, and the orthopedic wing of Lancaster General Hospital is one of the best. The technique that will be used is one of the newer, less invasive procedures. She had the same procedure performed on her left hip, and recovered very rapidly. We are looking for the same rapid healing this time.

I will update this story later this week to let you know how she is doing. We are both so thankful for the many friends we have who care so much for each other. That is our major task here on this earth. May God bless you all. We all love you, Mary
