If You Have Ears to Hear
|
|
Listening to each other
|
A noisy fan grates on my nerves,
It really is a pain!
My mind begins to block it out,
But there it is again!
I put the ear-buds in my ears,
And turn my Ipod on.
Now music floods my very soul;
All outside noise is gone.
I’m in a world of sense and tone,
The rhythm calms and soothes.
A thought intrudes my reverie,
Again I’ve got the blues.
I reach to turn the music off
And step outside my door.
A neighbor’s coming up the walk;
We sit and talk til’ four.
We talk of things that trouble us
And things that make us glad.
I listen to a human voice,
Now life is not so bad.
I close the door and Mary asks,
Is something bothering you?
I look at her and take her hand,
It’s nothing! I have you.
