At the Wednesday morning prayer breakfast at the Lancaster Church of the Brethren in Lancaster, PA, the speaker talked about a company whose mission statement was "Find the need, Fix the need, and Share the love." Someone asked me if I could write a song on that phrase. I came up with the following lyrics (changing "fix" to "fill") and set it to the music of the spiritual, "Stand by Me," written by Charles Albert Tindley (1851-1933).
Here is a big need
Find the Need
(sung to the tune "Stand by Me.")
As you labor in my kingdom,
Find the need. (find the need)
You can truly be a servant,
Find the need. (find the need)
Are they lonely, maybe hungry,
Their spirits prone to bleed?
If you really want to help them,
Find the need. (find the need)
You are called to follow Jesus,
Fill the need. (fill the need)
As you travel on your journey,
Fill the need. (fill the need)
Jesus comforted the lonely,
The hungry he would feed.
If you truly follow Jesus,
Fill the need. (fill the need)
Oh how much I love my children,
Share the love. (share the love)
There are those whose hearts are broken,
Share the love. (share the love)
If you truly want to help them,
Just look to God above.
Jesus blessed my needy children,
Share my love. (share the love)
