160. Jacob LANDIS125 was born in 1740.152 He died on 8 Apr 1794 in Lampeter Twp, Lancaster Co, PA.125,152,180 He was buried in Mellinger Men. Cem. (unmarked grave). Abraham was taxed at Lampeter Twp, Lancaster Co, PA and was fined at Lampeter Twp in 1783/1786 for refusal to bear arms during the Revolutionary War.

I think I have found the source of much of the confusion surrounding the
identity of his wife. In the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society card file
the original entry was Ann. Someone later typed in Ann Engle. The Barbara
Snavely is a misreading by many researchers. She is the second wife of his
son Johannes. Her birth and death dates are too late for Jacob Landis. The
card is rather poorly prepared. I need to check out this Ann Engle thing, but
I am becoming more convinced that Ira Landis was right with Esther Barr.
