Who Was Saint Patrick?

A Shamrock
Erin Go Bragh
We celebrate St. Patrick's Day each March 17. That is the day when we all become Irish, a big parade is held in New York City, and everyone drinks green beer. We display Irish symbols such as the shamrock; we use Irish slogans such as "Erin Go Bragh"; everyone wears green, and we sing lots of Irish songs. If you ask the average person who Saint Patrick was, they will probably respond that he is the man who drove the snakes out of Ireland.

It is doubtful that the legend is true. But he was a great man. His history is so overlaid with legend that it is hard to tell what is true and what isn't. Let's look at a few known facts about his life.
