Beating the War Drums

Our president seems to have only one thing on his mind, and that is beginning a war with Iraq. There are so many things that need our attention. War is not one of them. What could be the motivating factor here? Some possibilities are:

  • Putting to rest the "wimp" factor, finishing the war his father didn't complete.

  • Trying to prove he is a "true" Texan, he seems to like to play cowboy.

  • Creating a diversion to avoid dealing with an economy that is still far from secure.

  • Opening a second front to avoid dealing with the failure of the "War on Terrorism."

  • Protecting an oil supply for American oil interests.

I suspect that the truth involves a combination of all of them. Surely he cannot seriously view Iraq as a threat to the United States. By every report, Iraq is weaker than it was when "Desert Storm" ended. Why is congress running scared on this issue? Where are the Wayne Morse's? Why are the media not speaking out against this new threat to our peace? Where are the Eric Sevareid's? It is time for the American people to stand up and be counted. We cannot allow this president to have his way on this issue.

How can the nation with the greatest nuclear arsenal in the world, go to war because another country is only suspected of trying to create one? If we make a first strike, we are behaving just like the rogue nations we call the Axis of Evil. It looks to me like we are part of that Axis. May God have mercy on us if we carry through on this threat.

I don't know where you stand, but as for me and my house, we are standing firm for peace. "God Bless the World!" America has already been blessed many-fold.

Pray for Peace in Our Time!!!!
