In the year 2000, the Republicans stole the presidential election. A few years later, they set up the machinery to steal your Medicare benefits. If you think you will benefit from this drug bill, you better look at the numbers. It is a false promise. Social Security will be next. Destruction of both Medicare and Social Security has been the agenda for ultra-conservative Republicans for years. Now that they are in power, it will happen.

The major tax cuts for the rich that have been enacted for three years running have one main purpose. The purpose is to bankrupt the federal treasury. Then it will be impossible to continue funding major entitlement programs. That will force a move to privatization of our Social Security and Medicare programs. Who will benefit from this? Insurance companies, financial institutions, and major corporations will be the ones who reap the financial windfall. What will we reap? We will reap the whirlwind!

The common citizens have already lost their constitutional rights. Each day they are losing their sons and daughters in a war that is being fought on false pretenses. They have lost their jobs. They have lost medical coverage. Drug costs are going higher and they have lost even the avenue of purchasing from Canada. Now we are going to lose the two safety nets we have left, Medicare and Social Security.

When will we come to our senses? We cannot allow this to continue to happen. We must stop this madness in its tracks. If the Republicans are elected for another 4 years, we are doomed. It is absolutely necessary to prevent this from happening. Meanwhile we must write to our representatives in Congress and inform them that we will not tolerate any more of this kind of action.
