God Brings Light for dark times
The following is a commentary on Isaiah 9:2. The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who lived in a land of deep darkness-- on them light has shined.

A Shining Light
|
The world has learned again the meaning of deep darkness. But people of faith know there is a Light that shines even in the darkest hour. Adeline Beery expressed it this way: Out of sin, and out of weakness, this fair light still beckons on, through the valley of all shadows, to his own resplendent dawn.
For the Christian, that Light is Jesus. He said, "I am the Light of the world," which inspired P. P. Bliss to pen the words: Come to the light, 'tis shining for thee; sweetly the light has dawned upon me, Once 1 was blind, but now 1 can see; The light of the world is Jesus. He comes to us as the Light.
Sometimes that light can be blinding. Walter C. Smith wrote this wonderful phrase: "O help us to see 'tis only the splendor of light hideth thee." Do we sometimes interpret the Light as darkness when we fail to understand God's purpose?
Jesus admonished us to let our light shine. The world can only see the Light as it comes through us. Bliss also wrote: Brightly beams our Father's mercy from his lighthouse evermore, but to us he gives the keeping of the lights along the shore.
